If Paris is the kind of city that makes you want to come back again and again, then the Terrass” Hotel is the thing that makes you never want to leave. Situated in Montmartre, it’s the perfect home away from home, a little piece of heaven in the 18th arrondissement.
When I first enter my room at the Terrass” Hotel, I can hardly catch my breath. The room captures uninterrupted views of the Eiffel Tower and beyond, with the bay windows opening for a view across the entire city. It might seem crazy to set an alarm for 6am whilst on holidays, but that’s exactly what I do on the first night here. Knowing I can watch the sun rise over the Eiffel Tower from my bed is an event I do not want to miss. When my alarm goes off the next morning, I wake to watch the sun rise without even getting out of bed. I could definitely get used to this.
The Terrass” Hotel makes staying in Paris feel like you’ve swapped lives with a celebrity (one look at the incredible Parisian bathroom featuring a movie star mirror and you’ll understand exactly what I mean). Every finishing touch has been considered, with luxury and comfort in mind, right down to the bed that feels like you’re sleeping on clouds and the heavenly shower. Each room offers everything you’d expect from a hotel, but it’s the added luxuries that make this one extra special. Things like L’Occitane bathroom products, a heated towel rack and a movie star mirror are what gives you the 5-star treatment. This treatment can be continued on the ground floor of the hotel, where you’ll find the spa area offering massages and treatments, along with a sauna available to select guests.
I eat breakfast on the 7th floor of the hotel at the restaurant that overlooks the entire city. As I work my way through a plate of mini croissants, cheese, macaroons and toast, I take in the fellow hotel guests, a mix of chic business folk and holiday makers. Each night the hotel attracts these types of guests, along with people from all over Paris coming in to capture the magnificent view from the rooftop bar. The Terrass” Hotel has the only bar and restaurant in all of Paris that offers panoramic views in both the indoor and outdoor spaces. If you want to watch the Parisian sunset, then this is the place to be.
Beyond the hotel in the charming village of Montmartre you’ll discover food, art, culture and unrivalled views. You’ll find an array of cafes, shops and the most divine French Pâtisseries all within a short walk. Further up the hill you’ll stumble across the Sacre Coeur and to the right you’ll find the Moulin Rouge. If you feel like venturing outside of the village, you can encounter the Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees and the Eiffel Tower. It might take you about an hour to walk, but with a couple of coffee stops and croissants along the way it will be entirely worth it.
I spend my days eating my way through Paris, exploring the sights and admiring the French and their ability to eat pastries all day, without ever getting fat. Personally, I had every intention to spend more time on the 2nd and 5th floors of the hotel where the sports rooms are located, but instead I spend my time at the bar and restaurant. Surely all the walking will work off those extra croissants anyway?!
If your idea of a holiday is days spent eating, drinking and exploring the sights, then the Terrass” Hotel at Montmarte might be the spot just for you. Only 5 minutes from Gare Du Nord Station and 30 mins from Charles De Gaulle Airport, your next Parisian getaway awaits at the Terrass” Hotel. Book online via www.terrass-hotel.com.
