Instantly enticing with its name and everything it implies, The Slow is a new boutique hotel in Bali that’s set to wind us down for a new style of travelling. Set on the coast of Canggu, Bali, The Slow reminds us what we’re here for – To relax. This boutique style accommodation has carefully curated its dwellings with this intention in mind, effortlessly blending its themes of relaxed surf culture and pop art. The brainchild of George Gorrow and Cisco Tschurtschenthaler, The Slow was created in collaboration with architect Rieky Sunur, producing a flawless juxtaposition of industrial and contemporary living. Nature’s elements are the cornerstone of this boutique hotel, with a strong emphasis on raw and sustainable materials such as native timber, exposed brick and local stone. The walls are decorated with a photograph-heavy collection of works from up-and-coming artists from around the globe, complete with a dedicated gallery space that signifies a love of art and the finer things in life. These added touches of luxury continue throughout the hotel, with suites offering floor to ceiling windows, perfectly finished with features like rain showers and organic bath amenities. It’s easy to immerse ourselves into the island life that is The Slow, surrounded by nature and a stone’s throw away from the beach. As we start to relax and unwind, resting our body and minds, one thing is for sure – The Slow certainly abides by the rule of its name.
